This weeks Lessons

We worked on a lot of writing and math skills this week.

 Eli is really insistent on practicing his uppercase letters. Korben knows a large of amount of numbers and has been writing them for some time, but we like to practice. We're also working on telling time. We LOVE these KUMON books. Love. Love. Love. They are constructed to build confidence in your child as they work- and they have a TON of subjects and even fun drawing and maze books!

Our Bible Character Trait this week is Tenderhearted. We created a chart and are trying to catch one another acting tender towards someone else. We then write the act on the chart. Korben added a section for the new baby and gave her a star.

We did some estimation games, which was a lot of fun. I also have discovered some great math websites that are full of fun games for kids PreK-6th. Harcourt School Publishers is a fun way to explore different math concepts with the kids and see what level they are at in their math skills. Ambleweb is basic addition, on 3 levels- not really a game, but the boys like it.

Korben had 3 short vowel sounds as well as a Long Vowel with a silent 'E'

 Finally, while Eli and I worked on more tracing of uppercase letters, I let Korben play a fun new game. I gave him a notebook and told him to be a detective, looking all around our main level for words. He then would have to copy the word down onto his notebook.

Next week, my Mom will be in town so our week will likely consist of more "field trip" activities. I'm hoping to go to the new Dinosaur Museum, Morrill Hall and maybe even the SAC (Air and Space) Museum!
