A bunch of us from Lincoln Mommies got together and visited a fire station today. The kids had such a blast! Korben was a little apprehensive of the large trucks at first, but very quickly warmed up to them. He sat in the fore engine and pretended to drive it! He loved when the lights started to flash and really wanted the siren to go off, but of course that would have been much to loud for such little ears! Eli saw the trucks and pointed excitedly and made a fire truck noise (like a loud whining...). Our friend, Kate, was a little afraid of the large trucks, but was such a trooper waiting for everyone to have their turn in the truck. She was much happier to watch when the firefighter put on all of her gear. She showed the kids how not to be afraid if they ever see a firefighter in their gear, because they are there to keep them safe. This hit home with Korben as he talked about how she wasn't scary, but looked silly. They left with stickers and coloring books and lots of fun memories.
